Ah... the is a continuation of the prev. post because I'm too lazy to finish in one shot :p
All right, it's a new frontier because I'm working on a new deck, poly students gotta go back on 12 April, and spirits will be definitely crushed. (if not crushed, then most certainly grinded.)
Anyway, I went through 1 of the 3Ds last post- Discard, leaving the others glossed over. I should probably look through them now :)
Destroy:
Lightning Bolt: Easily one of the most solid spells in standard at the moment. What better way to see it off in its farewell tour than with a deck?
Burst Lightning: Very versatile. 2 damage is nice for removing pesky blockers, 4 for pushing through those last few points of damage. Me likey.
Smother/Doomblade/Terminate: Depends on your meta. each has its pros and cons (mainly Doomblade can't kill black dudes, Smother can't kill mana cost >3, Terminate for its colour cost.)
Bituminous Blast: Solid card advantage, but bit expensive and heck, we're not running a Jund Deck here.
Dark Temper: Just listed here, who knows, it may be just as good. (mana base friendly, kills all)
Disrupt/enial- Screws tempo, or your $$$ back :)
Spreading Seas: hehe, mana bases nowadays are a tad bit unstable. Spreading Seas helps utilise that. Also cantrips, allow a nice follow up (T2 Sea, T3: Blightning. Mwahahah.)
Convincing Mirage: Your Sea copies 5~8, doesn't cantrip though. Used mainly for pesky blue decks. Heck ,You may want a mana-denial strategy in the side. Read on to know more.
Tectonic Edge: Yeah, after Troy, we had a laugh with that one. (same goes for Tectonic Fiend.) Kills off essentials. 2~3 of, depending on stability of mana base.
Goblin Ruinblaster: Tectonic Edge stapled on a 2/1 body with haste. Goes deeper and wipes out more lands.
Roiling Terrain: With fetchlands being eaten like there's no tmrw, coupled with a mana denial strategy, Roil Terrain is going to be = 4~5 dmg in the mid-game. Typically underestimated, You can pick up a few copies easily.
Essence Scatter/Negate/Cancel: Counters are traditionally denial. Meh.
Well, looks like we're all set. Throw in a couple of cantrips, plus a couple of beats here and there, and you get the following deck:
the 3Ds- V.1.0
3 Creeping Tar Pit
2 Tectonic Edge
4 Dragonskull Summit
4 Scalding Tarn
2 Islands
x+y Swamps and Mountains to taste.
23 Lands (may add more, you'll never know.)
4 One-Drop (Goblin Guide, maybe?)
4 Slavering Nulls
4 Sedraxis Specter
4 Goblin Ruinblaster
16 Creatures 1st.
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Burst Lightning
4 Terminate
4 Blightning
4 Mind Rot
1 Grixis Charm/ + 1 Anywhere.
21 Other Spells
4 Nyxathid
4 Smother
4 Spreading Seas
3 Convincing Mirage
15 Sideboard
Yeah we know the SB needs work, but that one, depends on the meta. Typically I'd include land denial, a few wraths, and a couple of silver bullets. But this one is up to you.
About the Mana Denial Strategy:
Heck, this one, mainly for the griefers who like to see their opponent squirm. Just up the Edge count to 3, main-deck 4 mirages and seas, and dump in 2~3 copies of Roiling Terrain. I'm keeping this one just in case. You'll never know (hehe, I plan to use this one against Brendan. See how much he likes being mana-screwed. shhhh~)
Well, that's all for this post. Cya soon.
Signing off,
Ernie.
